Founded in 1984 by the late Bishop Michael C. Grayer,  Grace Church is "The Family Church caring for the Family of God", who stepped out in force, inspired and spiritually armed by Elder Alfred Quarles Jr., to help others in their communities and across the world.

Elder Alfred Quarles Jr. was appointed pastor of Grace Church during the 1997 International Convocation in Columbus, Ohio.  He began to carry on the vision that the late Bishop Michael C. Grayer established.  Pastor Quarles accepted this challenge that the Lord has set before him to carry on the work of the Lord, thus renaming Grace Church to Grace Emmanuel Church.

Elder Alfred Quarles Jr. went on to be with the Lord in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of faithful leadership and love for the people of God.  His memory continues to inspire the life of this congregation.  Pastor Alfred Quarles III now leads Grace Emmanuel Church, building on that foundation and pressing forward in the vision God has placed before him.
